James Ogren

James Ogren, 72, passed away March 31, 2023, in Venice, Florida where he and his beloved wife of 48 years were spending the winter.

Jim was born on December 20, 1950, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Thomas and Barbara Jean (Braunbeck) Ogren.

Jim graduated from Edgewood Senior High School in 1969, followed by studying at both Kent State and Ohio State University.  

On February 15, 1975, Jim married Cathleen L. Day.  With their children, they enjoyed traveling, sailing, camping, and growing an international network of friends.  He enjoyed traveling the world, but most of all meeting new people.  

Jim was a loyal employee of Plasticolors, Inc. for over 40 years.  

He served for many years as an assistant boy scout leader of Troop 11 of Kingsville; he served on the board of the Ashtabula Yacht Club, and was a devoted member of the LEADERship Ashtabula board. 

He is survived by his wife, Cathleen; his children, Thomas Ogren and Cara Ogren; his grandson, Trevor; his mother, Barbara Jean Brown (Ogren); his siblings: Jack (Ginger) Ogren, Jerry (Barbara) Ogren, Linda (Rick) Silvers and Marilyn Ogren (Stoltz); his brother-in-law, Patrick (Deborah) Day and his eleven nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Earl Ogren, and his in-laws,  Louis and Patrica Day.  

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 1:00p – 3:00p with a funeral service to follow at 3:00p at Fleming and Billman Funeral Home, 526  West Prospect Street in Ashtabula, Ohio.
