Irene Florence (Fink) Whetson

Irene F. Whetson, age 78, longtime resident of Rock Creek, died Sunday morning at Saybrook Landing.

She was born June 26, 1941 in Denmark Twp., the daughter of Gerald & Dorothy (Timms) Fink and has been an Ashtabula County resident most of her life, other than living in N. Bloomfield for 15 years.  Irene worked many years at Con-Lea Nursing Home in Geneva as dietary manager and also worked at Rock Creek Pizza.

Irene was involved at the Eagleville Bible Church where she was active with different church groups.  She also enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and baking.

Survivors include three children, Dorothy M. (David) Shinkle of Rock Creek, Maxine A. “Sue” Koprowski of Jefferson & Max W. (Millie Simon) Whetson, Jr. of Conneaut; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four siblings, Gerald (Phoebe) Fink of Amory, MS, Geraldine “Nub” Sauvageot of Ashtabula, Dale Fink of Geneva & Kelley (Michael Lanstrum) Fink of Middleburg Hts.

Her parents; her husband, Max W. Whetson, Sr. and two grandsons, Glenn Montville, Jr. & Daniel Shinkle preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, 6/20/2020 at 1:00 PM at Morgan Union Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Bill McMinn of Eagleville Bible Church officiating.  The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W.
