Howard B. Stanton

Howard B. Stanton, 101, of Sheffield Twp. passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022.

He was born on April 3, 1921, in Ashtabula, the son of Dean and Rosibel (Bugby) Stanton.

On October 21, 1944, Howard married Lucille Bancroft; together they made a family, a home and 72 years of cherished memories.  Two weeks after his wedding he went off to serve his country in the US Army during WWII.

Howard worked for over 40 years as a Union Carpenter retiring in 1986.  He worked long hard days to provide for his family, which he always put first.  He had a small family farm that he tended to after work and on weekends.  He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, his pets, and he was also a beekeeper and he made and collected his own maple syrup.

He is survived by his loving family; his children: Herbert (Skitch) Stanton, Connie Hawke,  Gerry (Joseph) Schreiber, Susan (Linn) Graber and Mary Jane (Frank) Frye; his grandchildren, Melissa, Timothy, Kevin, Katie, Christina, Noah, Melanie, Abbey, Chelsea, Kara, Risa; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and his son-in-law Curtis Bish

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille (Bancroft) Stanton; his daughter Edith Bish; a granddaughter, Stacey Hawke; his brother Robert Stanton and sister Mary Nelson and son in law Robert Hawke.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 3:00-5:00 at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.  Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Gageville United Methodist Church, 4063 State Route 193, Kingsville, Ohio; burial will immediately follow in Gageville Cemetery.
