Helen Gage Obituary

Helen Irene Gage
Rock Creek - Helen Irene Gage, 85, passed away peacefully at University Hospitals Cleveland
Medical Center.
She was born at home in Maple Grove, Plymouth Township, on August 30, 1941, the daughter of
Martin and Goldie (Ferguson) Langheid.
Helen graduated from Grand River Academy in Austinburg in 1959. Following graduation, she
began working at Great Lakes Tractor Company in Rock Creek. It was there that Frank Gage
first saw Helen and knew, as he told a coworker, that he was going to marry her. His words
proved true when the couple was united in marriage on January 7, 1961.
Helen and Frank shared a marriage filled with love, laughter, friendship, and unwavering
devotion to one another. Together, they worked hard to build a home and a life for their family
in Rome Township. Above all else, Helen was a devoted mother whose greatest purpose and
deepest joy were her children. She took tremendous pride in Thomas, Timothy, and Jennifer,
and she and Frank worked tirelessly to provide them with every opportunity and the best life
possible. Her love for her children was steady, selfless, and evident in the care, encouragement,
and strength she gave them throughout their lives.
After dedicating her early years to raising her three children and caring for her home until they
were all in school, Helen began a meaningful career with the United States Postal Service. She
brought the same dependability, determination, and work ethic she gave to her family into her
postal career. Through her hard work and dedication, she was assigned to many local post
offices. Her greatest achievement was her last placement, before retiring, in the Andover, Ohio .
There she became the first woman postmaster in a class A post office for the region—an
accomplishment of which she was rightly proud and one that reflected her character,
perseverance, and commitment to serving her community.
After retirement, Helen enjoyed traveling with friends and family and was always excited to go
to new places. She loved people and would strike up a conversation with just about anyone she
met, gifting them with her attention and great smile. In her later years, when she preferred to be

home more, she kept active with her many projects, showcasing her love of collecting and
creating beautiful things.
While Helen’s accomplishments were significant, her family and friends remained the center of
her world. She cherished every role she held within her family—as a loving wife, devoted
mother, proud grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother. Nothing brought her greater
happiness than time spent with those she loved. Her pride in her children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren was boundless, and the love she gave them will remain an enduring part of
their lives.
Helen is survived by her loving family: her sons, Thomas (Michelle) Gage and Timothy
(Jeanette) Gage; her daughter, Jennifer (George) Weisenbach; and her grandchildren, Benjamin
Gage, Elizabeth Gage, Zachary Gage (Caty Petersilge), Hannah Gage (Gabe Lidderdale), Kathryn
Gage, Thomas Gage, Lillian Gage, Amelia Gage, Brianna Gage, Sarah Weisenbach, Lauren
Weisenbach and Olivia Weisenbach. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Oliver,
Arthur, and Carman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Frank Gage, in 1999; and her
siblings, Betty Piper, Dorothy Wolfe, Phillip “Butch” Langheid, and Martin "Bud" Ketola.
