Harry Gordon Gaines, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022, at Regency Hospital in Warrensville Heights, Ohio.

Harry was born on December 20, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Harry Gordon and Laura (Altonen) Gaines, Sr.

He graduated from Harbor High School in Ashtabula in 1961. Harry enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1962-1966.

On April 11, 1964, Harry married the love of his life, Jean Marie (Frampton) Gaines, they recently celebrated fifty-eight years of wonderful marriage together.

Harry worked as a Filter Technician at Ohio American Water for thirty-four years until his retirement in 2005.

Harry enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and watching baseball/softball games.  He also enjoyed antiquing, Civil War history and collectibles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Gaines; his children: Kristine (James) Laveck, Steven Gaines and Jason (Lori) Gaines; three grandchildren: Sarah Hakkarainen, Mathew (Frances) Laveck and Jeremy Gaines; his great-grandchildren: Ezra Laveck and Kingsley Gaines and his brothers: Brian (Cindy) Gaines and Scott (Brenda) Gaines.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A private family service will take place at a later date.  Fleming and Billman Funeral Home is honored to be handling the arrangements for the Gaines Family.
