Gaylord C. Millard, 86, of Pierpont, Ohio peacefully passed away in his home on Monday, November 11, 2024.
Gaylord was born on September 21, 1938 to Leota Cash and Clyde Millard of Richmond Township.
He graduated in 1956 from Pierpont High School. Just 4 years later he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Leonard) on April 2, 1960. They were able to celebrate their 64 year anniversary this year.
Gaylord was a proud member of the United States Army Reserves for 4 years. He started milking in stanchions in 1977. After 18 years of milking in that parlor, they expanded the farm in 1995 and started milking in their double-8 stalled parlor that they are still using today.
Gaylord spent his free time at sporting events or at the Ashtabula County Fair where he loved to support his children and grandchildren. Later in life he enjoyed his card parties with some of his friends in the community. Not only was Gaylord very involved in his family and farm, but he was also very involved in his community. He was a Pierpont Township Trustee for 43 years. While serving he was a member of the County Township Trustee Association. He also served on the Ashtabula County Soil and Water Board, Western Reserve Farm Co-op Board and was a member of the Pierpont Fire Department where he served as an EMT and Assistant Fire Chief. He was a member of the Pierpont Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Trustee. The list of things he was involved in and his accomplishments throughout his life don’t even begin to explain the man that was Gaylord Millard. He was such a well known and well respected member of this county. He left his mark on everyone that had the pleasure of coming in contact with him. He will be truly missed but may he rest in peace knowing he left a legacy behind.
Gaylord was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Hershel and Stella Leonard, grandson, Tyler Millard and Francis and Mildred Campbell who were like 2nd parents to him.
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Leonard) Millard, brother Perry (Mayme) Millard, brother Charles (Judy) Cash, daughter Sharon Millard, son David (Laurie) Millard, son Scott (Lynne) Millard, grandchildren Craig (Ashley) Millard, Lisa Millard, Nicole Forbes, Sydney (Jesus) Crawford, Emily (Kenny) Crouch, great-grandchildren Mason Kalil, Harley Niemi, Faith Millard, Brantley Millard, Jay Millard, Colter Crawford, and Kinsley Crouch.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church (basement). A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 11 am.
Donations can be made to Pierpont Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Western Reserve or Pierpont Fire Department.
