Gary Bates

Gary Bates, 68, passed away on October 9, 2022, at his home in Ashtabula, Ohio.

He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on October 5, 1954, the son of Charles and Catherine (Bush) Bates. He grew up in Plymouth Township and graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1973.

Gary enjoyed working as a landscaper for the Conneaut Park System for six years.

He enjoyed anything to do with the railroad, camping, gardening, wildlife and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed baseball and especially loved the 60’s music and the Beetles.

He is survived by his sisters: Darlene Terrell, Elaine (Walter) Gunter; his nephews: Byron (Rachel) Gunter, Michael Gunter, Benjamin (Lisa) Gunter; his great nieces and nephews: Emmy, Jackson, Emily and Matthew.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held on October 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fleming and Billman Funeral Home, 526 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Pastor Gifford Baker will be officiating the service.
