Garrick William Scot Sowry

Garrick William Scot Sowry, age 28, was found Friday after missing for several weeks.

He was born September 15, 1989 in Geneva, the son of James S. & Diana L. (Dickson) Sowry and has lived in Ashtabula Co. all of his life.  Garrick was a 2007 graduate of the Ashtabula Co. Vocational School and was employed with ASW Pipeline in Geneva.

Garrick was a member of People’s Missionary Baptist Church and Laborer’s Local #860.  He was an avid welder and was very artistic with his work.  He was involved with 4-H more than 10 years while growing up, he enjoyed hunting, golfing, singing, playing baseball where he was involved with JALL for many years.  Garrick was a skilled artist, an outdoorsman and loved nature.

Garrick is survived by his parents, Diana Dickson Sowry of Jefferson & James S. Sowry of Dorset Twp., a son, Jax William Sowry and his mother, Melissa (Josh) Pyle, a brother, Thomas J. Sowry of Jefferson, his paternal grandparents, Bill & Marianne Sowry of Dorset Twp. and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ingrid Kjosness & Thomas Dickson and two uncles, John Sowry & Jack Hinkle.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Dorset Cemetery with the Rev. German Womack of People’s Baptist Church officiating.  A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at 12:00 noon at the 4-H Building at the Ashtabula Co. Fairgrounds in Jefferson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to establish the Jax William Sowry trust, checks made to Diana Dickson Sowry, 61 W.
