Eugene Melvin Dillard, Sr., 88, passed away on June 4, 2024, at his home in Ashtabula, Ohio.
He was born on September 8, 1935, in Trenton, New Jersey, the son of the late, Mary E. Clark Fox.
After graduating from high school, Eugene enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for several years.
Eugene was a mechanic by trade and also owned and operated a fish market.
He enjoyed lake fishing, working on cars and the Tasmanian Devil character. His favorite spots to go fishing were the Chesapeake Bay, Buggs Island in Virginia and Lake Erie.
He is survived by his children: Alicia D. Dillard, Eugene M. Dillard, Jr. and Elisita A. Dillard; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his siblings: Vera Morgan, Verlen Barnes, Geneva Venture, Gladys Douglas and George Payne; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother and his siblings, Lucy Morgan and Harry Morgan.
In honor of Eugene’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
