Ernestine E. Emerson, age 84, Morgan Twp., died Sunday evening at the David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland with her family at her side.
She was born April 10, 1935 in Highland Hts., the daughter of Ernest & Kathryn (Milton) Bradley and has lived in this area all of her life. She was married to Gordon G. Emerson on April 9, 1955 at the Rock Creek Methodist Church. Ernestine was a long-time assistant to Dr. C. K. Brandeberry in Rock Creek. She more recently worked at the Rock Creek Post Office until this past February.
Ernestine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was choir director and was involved with the Manna Food Pantry. She served as secretary at the Salvation Army and enjoyed gardening, music and always liked good food and company. Ernestine was known as a fiercely independent and a feisty woman.
Survivors include two children, Gary G. (Linda) Emerson of Garfield Hts. & Theresa M. (Bill) Grigger of Parma; six grandchildren, Dr. Geremiha (Angela) Emerson, Billy (Kiesha) Emerson, Teandra (Chris) Harsey, Elizabeth (Paul) Serrin, Bill (Sara) Grigger & Kathryn Grigger; six great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Saunders, Mia & Ellie Serrin, William & Charles Grigger & Ava Harsey and a brother, Clarence (Donna) Bradley of Bells, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon in 2015 and a sister, June Durrant.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, with retired pastor, Rev. Fred Grimm officiating.
