Elsie June Weir

Elsie June (McCafferty) Weir, 92, passed away on August 20, 2022, at her home in Ashtabula, Ohio.

She was born on May 24, 1930, in Champion, Ohio, the daughter of Levi Davis and Ruby Kurfus – McCafferty.

Elsie married the love of her life, Athol “Shorty” Weir on May 29, 1952, they shared many wonderful years of marriage together.

Elsie was a homemaker; she took great pride in maintaining her household and providing an enriched environment where she could raise her three loving children.

She had many interests, she enjoyed playing cards, sewing, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed taking care of others and always put her family’s needs in front of her own.

She is survived by her loving children: Rosalie Silka, Linda Weir and Karen Weir and her grandchildren: David, Roseanne, Donald, Candice, Daniel, Michael, Christopher, Carmen and Tommy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Athol “Shorty” Weir, her brothers: William and Walter McCafferty; her sisters: Margaret Fairchild and Ruth McCafferty. Her four children Donald McCaffety; Catherine Campbell; Donna Weir- Brazil and Robert Weir.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 11:00a-12:00p at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming and Billman Funeral Directors, 526 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. A Graveside Service and burial will immediately follow at Edgewood Cemetery, 4011 State Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.
