Earl Emory Hunt, 81, passed away peacefully holding his daughter’s hand at home on Monday, April 7, 2025.
Born on February 22, 1944, he was the son of Earl and Margaret (Layton) Hunt.
At a very young age Earl knew he wanted to become a pilot; and he did. He loved the thrill and the adventure. His love for flying became his profession and for over 55 years aviation was Earl’s life. Starting with a modest position as a flight mail carrier he quickly soared to elite heights, flying private company jets and prominent individuals. He was the proud owner and operator of Jefferson Aero Flight School and ended his career in the sky as a pilot for Corporate Wings and Flight Options. Even after he had to hang up his wings, he continued to share his passion for aviation with others through instruction, airplane sales and endless stories of his lifelong escapades.
If aviation hadn’t chose Earl, the life of an entertainer would have. He loved to sing, and was great at it. His talent and love for music even landed him an impromptu gig at the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas that he always reminisced of fondly and, was the only time he may have considered leaving the sky in pursuit of the stage. He was a dear friend to many, and he will be profoundly missed. Earl loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart; he was so proud of all of them.
He is survived by his children: Wendy (Gary) Febel, Leon (Marilu) Hunt, and Steven (Deann) Hunt; grandchildren: Lyndsay (Matt) Lasher, Stacey (Mike) Febel, Karley (Kyle) Christine, Kelsey Febel, Mariela (Ben) Tkacik, Adriana (Matthew) Johnson, Joseph Hunt, Megan Hunt, and Jordan Hunt; his great-grandchildren: Brenden, Brady, Prezlie, Ellyana, Remmie, Oliver, Madilyn, Luke, Thomas and MyLee; his sister, Anna (Ray) Coffee, and close friend, Stanley Haskins, a life long friend whom he always considered a brother.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rosie Stewart, his ex-wife Teresa (Chewning) Smith and his loving companion of 25+ years, Vivian Lively.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 3:00 p.m. till 4:30 pm with a celebration of life to follow starting at 4:30 at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 49 W Jefferson St, Jefferson, Ohio.
