Jack B. Bell
NORTH KINGSVILLE- Dr. Jack Bradley Bell, D.D.S., 74, passed away peacefully on Monday March 28, 2022 following a hard fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Jack was born in Ashtabula on January 30, 1948, the son of Orval J. “O.J.” and Betty Jean (Campbell) Bell growing up on Reed Avenue in Ashtabula.
Jack was a graduate of Ashtabula High School’s Class of 1966; as a Panther Jack excelled in football and baseball. In 2019 he was inducted into the Ashtabula Co. Football Hall of Fame to honor his achievements while playing football at AHS. Following graduation, he accepted a scholarship to play baseball from Kent State University; after graduating from Kent State, he went on to The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and graduated with honors. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served as the base dentist in Florida from 1974-1976 and in the reserves until 1978.
Jack served the community as a dentist for over 30 years; he enjoyed being a dentist, but it was his patients that made him love what he did for a living. He loved watching most professional and college sporting events, but his heart belonged to his beloved OSU Buckeyes. Everyone that knows Jack, knows that he loved to golf; he and Nancy and his good buddies would golf every day if weather permitted. It was actually sports that made most of Jack’s lifelong friendships, his childhood little league friends and fellow teammates from high school sports are still some of the same friends he golfed with up until last year. He valued those friendships more than anything but the love he had for his wife, his kids, and his grandkids. He was so proud of his family and felt very blessed for the love and support they gave him and the happiness they brought to his life.
He is survived by his loving family: his wife Nancy F. (Vinyard); his daughter Kimberly (Joe) Kimble; his grandson Jacob (Abigail Pike) Bell; Nancy’s granddaughter, that Jack loved like his own: Nikki (Cody) Gibson and her daughter Piper; and his brothers: Donald (Nancy) Bell and Terry Bell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Kyle Bell in 2013, his stepson Tom Porter in 1996; and his sister-in-law Judy Bell.
A service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held on Saturday (4/2/2022) at 3:30p.m. at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with military honors at 4:00. The family will receive guests from 2:00-3:30 at the funeral home prior to the services. Jack will be laid to rest in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery for Veterans at a later date.
