Dorothy L. Vaughan Weaver, 90, of Ashtabula passed away quietly on Monday (Jan. 29th) at her home. She was born Jan. 10, 1928 in Bridgeton, New Jersey the daughter of Stephen and Hazel (Bowers) Vaughan.
Following graduation from Bridgeton High School with the class of ’46 she became an operator for NJ Bell Telephone Co for 7 years. She was a member of the Berean Baptist Temple and taught Beginner’s Dept. Sunday School for 26 years in Bridgeton. She also served as a volunteer in the Woman’s Auxiliary of Bridgeton Hospital for 15 years.
She lived at her present address in Ashtabula with her daughter for 35 years. For many years she was a volunteer for the Ashtabula County District Library.
Surviving her is her daughter Dale (Matthew) Hawley, with whom she made her home; a son Gordon C. (Denise) Weaver, JR of Bridgeton, NJ; her grandchildren, Dustin J. and Katina D. (Tina) Hawley of Ashtabula, and Christopher A. (Terry) Kolonich, JR of Bridgeton; her great grandchildren, Heather A. Emerick, Jessica L. Emerick and Anthony R. Emerick all of Conneaut; Christopher a Kolonich III and Daemon Kolonich of Bridgeton, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon C. Weaver, SR in 1957; three sisters, Elizabeth Hitchener, Margaret Pendleton and Sylvia Hester and her brother, Wendall Vaughan.
Per her wishes there will be cremation and no services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Ashtabula City Fire Department or to the Bridgeton Fire Department.
