Dorothy E. Tobias

Dorothy E. Tobias, 101, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2022.She was born on April 8, 1921, in Ashtabula the daughter of Archie and Edith (Strong) Hazeltine.Dorothy graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1939.  She worked for Carlisles and for Farmers National Bank.  On August 24, 1941, she married William L. Tobias and together they built a beautiful life, started a family, and celebrated 56 wonderful years together until his passing in 1997.Dorothy enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, and crossword puzzles.  Her most treasured times were those spent with family. She is survived by her children Sheila Caruso, Carole Noce, and William (Kathy) Tobias, Jr., grandchildren Elena, Joseph and Dominic Caruso, Kim Scafuro, Chad (Melissa) Tobias, Misty (Tim) Hejduk and Kristy (Joe) Swigunski, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, sister Mary Sandella.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, granddaughters Michelle Schreiber and Nikki Caruso, brothers Richard, Robert, James and Arthur Hazeltine, sister Ruth Beckman, son-in-laws Dominic Caruso and Chris Noce.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2022 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.  Immediately following will be a funeral service at 2:00pm, officiated by Hospice Chaplain Nicholas Hull.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to Bella Care Hospice, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
