Dorothy L (Parks) Spellman passed away May 21, 2021 at County Club Retirement Campus after a 3 year struggle with dementia. She was born in Ashtabula Ohio on June 15, 1926 to Kenneth H and Ruth (Kennedy) Parks. Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Ashtabula High School. After graduation she worked at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company. On November 23, 1947 she married George W. (Bill) Spellman at First United Methodist Church in Ashtabula.
Dorothy was active in her church, she was a Gray Lady at Ashtabula General Hospital, member of the Grottoetts, and Child Guidance Group. She loved spending time with her family and friends going shopping, to the dairy queen, playing cards or playing Dominos. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavs, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters Karen (Charles) Coutts and Nancy (Charles) MacArthur, two grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Boone and Robert (Halle) MacArthur and two great grandsons, Logan and Cole MacArthur, a brother Robert K Parks and many nieces and nephews and her best friend Marge Coutts.
She was preceded in death my her husband Bill on May 26, 1986, a son David Charles 5 day old in 1949, her parents and sister Betty Breckenridge in 1978.
Calling hours will be held at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula on Wednesday (May 26th) from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A private service will be held at Ridgeview Cemetery following the calling hours.
