Dora Patterson McGirr
January 21, 1963 – July 9, 2025
Age 62 | Dorset, Ohio
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Dora Patterson McGirr of Dorset, Ohio, who passed away peacefully in her home on July 9, 2025, at the age of 62, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 21, 1963, Dora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. On July 19, 1982, she married the love of her life, Garland McGirr. Together, they shared nearly 43 years of marriage, building a life grounded in faith, love, and family.
Dora was known for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and the deep care she gave to those around her. Her home was always full of warmth, laughter, and love. Whether she was welcoming guests with a smile, sharing stories in her newly renovated kitchen, or tending to the animals on the mini-farm she and Garland started, Dora created a space where everyone felt at home.
She enjoyed the simple joys of life—playing bingo, going to yard sales, and hosting and attending cook-outs, where she was always asked to bring her famous and delicious baked beans and macaroni salad; as well as venturing off on spontaneous adventures with her best friend, "Cricket". Dora cherished time with her family, and her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those she loved most.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Garland McGirr; her children Lisa (Chris) Dickson, Amy McGirr, Garland Jr. (Katie) McGirr, and Tyler McGirr; her grandchildren Summer, Chase, Toby, Bailey, Ryan, Konnor, Breanna, Kaleb, Bella and Remi; and her great-grandchild Kai.
She is also survived by her siblings Lavern (Karen) Patterson, Robert Patterson, Harold (Dawn) Patterson, Shirley Folgle, and Emma (Mark) Drda.
Dora was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Patterson, and mother, Zylpha (Monroe) Patterson; her siblings Larry Patterson, Jonny Patterson, Judy Turner, and Nancy (Charles) Plott.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Friends and family will be invited to gather and share memories, laughter, and love in honor of Dora’s beautiful life.
