Donald Taft
ASHTABULA – Donald E. Taft, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 9, 2021 at Carrington Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Ashtabula on July 8, 1940 the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Luce) Taft.
Don worked as a letter carrier for the Ashtabula Post Office for 40 years. A career he loved because of the families he got to know over the years as their mailman. He was also a Boy Scout leader for many years; he was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and worked for three years as an Usher at Progressive Field. He was a vendor at area flea markets for many years as well. He enjoyed traveling, genealogy and American history.
He is survived by his sister Jean (Larry) Mills as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen Taft; his brother David Taft and his longtime companion Maggie Jeffers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 13, 2021 at 12:00 at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home. 526 W. Prospect Road Ashtabula. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 11:00-12:00. Burial will follow in Dorset Cemetery.
