Donald Pruden
GENEVA- Donald Lloyd Pruden, 95, passed away February 8, 2024.
He was born in Geneva, Ohio, on January 12, 1929, the son of Lyle and Lynndall (Lloyd) Pruden.
Don was a 1947 graduate of Platt R. Spencer High School; he was a 4 event Champion on the high school track team. He went on to The Ohio State University from 1947-1950 and was then drafted into the US Army and proudly served from 1951-1953.
His death brings the end of the family legacy that ran the Pruden Hatchery. His father and brother Dick worked hard together on the family business that was very successful for many, many years. From 1957-1995 he was one of Geneva Schools favorite bus drivers, he just loved the kids on his route like they were his own. His family business was the sponsor for many local baseball and basketball teams known as “The Pruden Chicks”.
Don loved watching the Cleveland Cavs, Guardians and Browns. He was also a huge Frank Sinatra fan and had many of his albums.
He was a member of the Geneva Twp. Park Board of Directors as well as a trustee and Deacon at the Geneva United Church.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Barbara Pruden; his niece Lori (Luis) Martinez; his nephews Rick (Patti) Pruden and Tim (Liz) Pruden; his great-nieces and nephews Nina (Omar) Catala, Michael Pruden, Jennifer (Danny) Downie, Catherine Pruden, and David Pruden; and his great-great niece Valentina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick in 2017, his niece Karen Pruden-Tejeda; his great niece- Rebecca Tejeda and Sue Hines who he often referred to as the love of his life.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday (2/15/2024) at the United Church of Geneva, 75 S. Broadway St. Geneva, Ohio 44041. Calling hours will be from 11:00-12:00 with the funeral service starting at 12:00. Military honors will follow the funeral service at the church. A luncheon will be provided by the United Church following the service.
