Dolores J. Town (aka Nannie by many), 88 of Saybrook Township passed away Sunday (January 3rd) at the home she built with her family. She was loved by many for her kindness and quick wit. She was a very loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She will be missed beyond words and was loved a bushel and a peck with a hug around the neck.
She was born August 14, 1932 in Ashtabula the daughter of Theodore W. and Eleanor (Reed) Truesdell. She had been a lifetime area resident. She married the love of her life (Larry) on August 27th 1955, two months and two days after they met, with whom she traveled the country and the joys and sorrows of life. Together in their RV, they visited every contiguous state in the US and much of Canada. Always the documentarian, she could often be found behind the lens of her camera or logging in her travel journals.
She was a 1950 graduate of Ashtabula High School. She still enjoyed going to monthly lunches with her classmates. She had been employed by the Ashtabula Phone Company and Rockwell.
She had been a member of a Quilt Guild and a Mother’s Club when her children were young. She enjoyed quilting, photography, country music (especially Alan Jackson), sledding, and flowers, or "posies", as Larry would call them. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren, especially camping and bicycling on the Greenway Trail.
Surviving her is her daughter Vicki (John Hanyok) Miller of Rome, Ohio and two grandchildren, Julia (Dan) Lazarz, and Joe Miller, and nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry C. Town in 2010; a son Clark Town in 1982; a son-in-law, Steve Miller in 2017; and two brothers, Theodore “Bill” Truesdell and Neal W. Truesdell.
Graveside services will be Tuesday (Jan. 19th) at 11:00 am at Saybrook Township Cemetery with Alisa Nierzejewski certified celebrant officiating.
