David Chah Obituary

David Charles Chah, age 85, passed away on Friday, July 14th in the comfort of his own home in Jefferson, Ohio while in the care of his four children.

Dave was born and raised on a farm in Rock Creek to Joseph and Barbara Chah, the younger brother to Donald Chah and Barbara Allman.

He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany post-WWII before returning to Ohio and finding his professional calling in the construction industry.

Under the mentorship of Andy Skidmore and in partnership with his brother Donald, Dave launched himself into an extraordinary 45-year career. In the early 1980s, Dave, Mark Skidmore, and Tom Wible took their expertise and friendship to Phoenix and established CS&W Contractors.

Dave’s hard work ethic, innovative business solutions, and creative visions for real estate projects propelled his career’s successes. More importantly, in his professional field, he was a generous mentor to a countless number of people who respected him, trusted him, and loved/“feared” him. He always recognized the support he had received early on in his career and continuously sought out opportunities to pay it forward. To give his daughters and other girls the opportunity to play ball, Dave was a founder of Jefferson Area Girls Softball, along with one of his lifelong friends, Helen Ferraro.

Upon retirement, Dave and his partner, Shirley Allio returned to Jefferson where he prided himself in the upkeep of an immaculately sculpted lawn, frequented by a bevy of wild deer and turkeys. In the winters, they traveled to Ft. Myers where he enjoyed driving his motorcycle, connecting with friends, and playing poker.

His tenacity in life and his love for his family was fierce and roared strongly in his final years. He lived each day for one more hug, one more phone call with a loved one, one more toast at sunset, one more lap around the yard on his lawn mower. His kindness, his love and devotion to others, and his passion for life will always be part of his memory.

David Chah is survived by his four children with Sandra Chah: Denise Chah, Deborah Chah, Dianne Fisher (Roberto Ponti), and Damian Chah; and his six grandchildren, Haley Brill (Jonathan Buys), Cameron Fisher (Sarah), Courtney Kuhn (Matthew), Alex Brill (Anthony Proia), Taylor Marous (Colin McElroy), and Casey Fisher.
