Darlene Elizabeth (Pelton) Meaney, 95, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2022, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.
Darlene was born on February 1, 1926, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Richard and Cassie (Swanson) Pelton.
Darlene married Victor Meaney on December 17, 1977, they shared many wonderful years of marriage together until his passing.
Darlene worked at True Temper in Ashtabula for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Conneaut and an auxiliary member of the VFW. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of TOPS in Conneaut, a dedicated “room mother” at her children’s schools and she volunteered her time at the election polls.
Darlene enjoyed camping, yoga and swimming at the Ashtabula YMCA. She was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers. Darlene’s true source of happiness and joy came from spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving children: Janice Wolfe, Elaine (Bob) Crosbie and Patricia (Tim) McGowan, her stepchildren: Ann Coffey, Mary “Kay” (Ken) Flynn, Patricia (Bill) Groff, Michael (Patty) Meaney and Charles (Loretta) Meaney, her seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Victor Meaney, her son, James R. Nash, her brothers, Leonard and Lyle Pelton and her grandson, Brad Wolfe.
A Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Geneva, Ohio.
