Chris Allan Flack, 74, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on May 3, 2026, following a long illness.
Born May 22, 1951, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the son of James Flack and Esther Wight. A 1969 graduate of Ashtabula High School, Chris went on to serve his country with pride and honor in the United States Air Force for eight years. His time in the service, along with the values instilled in him from a young age, shaped a life defined by unwavering loyalty, quiet strength, and steadfast dedication.
Those same qualities guided Chris throughout his life—especially in his devotion to his family and his work. On December 30, 1996, he married Peggy Lee Walker, his loving and devoted wife of nearly 30 years, with whom he built a life grounded in commitment and enduring partnership. Chris also dedicated 40 years of hard work to Premix, where he earned the respect of those around him through his reliability, work ethic, and pride in a job well done before retiring in 2013.
Above all, Chris was a family man. He found his greatest joy in the presence of those he loved and took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Whether gathered around a card table, enjoying time camping, or simply sharing stories, Chris treasured those moments deeply. He also enjoyed bowling, woodworking, cheering on the Cleveland sports teams, and unwinding in front of a TV with a good western. A devoted animal lover, he had a special fondness for his many pet cats over the years.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy; his children, James (Christy Fisher) Flack and Melissa (Charles) Reed; his stepsons, Randy (Ashley) Jewell and Jason Jewell; his grandchildren: Zackery (Nataly) Flack, Tyler Flack, Bradley Flack, Emily(Zach Ramney) Nixon, Cheyenne Nixon, Bryan Nixon, Jr., Aven Lalli, Antonio “Jax” Lalli, Arianna Reed, Kyle Jewell, Allison Jewell, Jonnie (Shelby) Johnson, Jason (Kaylee) Jewell, Jr., Christian (Savannah) Jewell, And Madison Jewell; 6 great-grandchildren ; his siblings, Ronald (Judy) Flack, Mark Flack, Bob (Robin) Wight, Tim Wight, Cathy (Bill) Miller, Beverly (Mike) Pierce, and Sandy Klingler; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Monita Flack and Esther and Ted Wight.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 7, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson with military burial honors.
