Cheryl Robertson Obituary

Cheryl Ann Robertson, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on July 30, 2026, following a long illness.

She was born in Madison, Ohio, on May 5, 1949, the daughter of James and Edythe (Irons) Newman.

Cheryl was a kind, loving, and selfless woman who devoted her life to caring for others. She worked for many years as a nurse’s aide at Geneva Hospital, where her compassion and gentle spirit touched countless patients and families. Cheryl treated those in her care as though they were members of her own family, always willing to go above and beyond to offer comfort, dignity, and kindness.

On June 7, 1986, Cheryl married Melvin “Mel” Robertson. Together, they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, happiness, and an unwavering devotion to one another. Her family was the center of Cheryl’s world, and she took great joy in every moment spent with them.

Cheryl loved reading, caring for her cats, attending Little League baseball games, and enjoying breakfast with her friends at McDonald’s. She also treasured her pen pals from around the world and enjoyed participating in paperback book swap. Of all the roles she held, being called “Grandma” was among her greatest joys. She took immense pride in her grandchildren and deeply cherished the time she spent with them.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Mel; her daughter, Amy (Virgil) Dodge; her granddaughters, Jessica, Angelina, Allie, and Callie; and her sisters, Clorice and Amelia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Steffany Eberhard who passed away on Jan. 9, 2025; and her brother, Jimmy Newman.
