Charles (Chuck) John Ehlert, 68, of Jefferson, Ohio passed away after a long, courageous battle against cancer on Sunday May 16, 2021.
A long time resident of Jefferson, Chuck left this world to take his place in heaven surrounded by family. He was born to Charles and Adolphine (Tommie) Ehlert on March 1, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Chuck served in the Marine Corps upon graduating from Jefferson Area High School (Class of 1971); He was very proud of the fact that he was a Marine - what he termed “the best arm of the service”... "Semper Fi".
His love of large equipment ("toys") led him to a variety of work environments. Chuck attacked each job, no matter if it were small or large, with determination, dedication, and hard work. He tied his work ethic with the ability to joke and to make friends, and had a smile that could light up a room. Chuck was a long time fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without watching THE game. Always a fan of sports, Chuck participated in men’s softball leagues until he was in his 50s and his knees said it was time to become a spectator. He was never happier than sharing the outdoors; snowmobiles, fishing, boating, and lottery tickets with his family.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Linda Ramey Ehlert; his children, Heather (Bryan) Strazinsky, Kimberly (Brian) Sissons, Joe Kellerman and Keri Kellerman; his 7 grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Strazinsky, Aiden and Cooper Sissons, Riley, Kaiya and Cienna Kellerman, who lit up his world; Sister Charlene (Clayton) Butler; nieces and nephews; all who remember him lovingly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Adolphine (Tommie) Ehlert; his brother Peter J Bayardi; sister Patricia Cordle, and brothers-in-law Clayton Butler and Lacie Cordle.
Services will be Wednesday May 19, 2021 at 1:00 at Fleming-Billman Funeral Home, 49 W. Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio. Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral service from 11:00-1:00. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Jefferson.
