Carrie Ione Kennedy, 82, died peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the Country Club Retirement Campus surrounded by loving friends and family.
She was born in Novelty, OH on October 17, 1942, to Howard and Margaret (Genther) Demorest and lived all her life in Ashtabula County.
She graduated from Rowe High School in 1961. She was employed at Rockwell Plastics and for many years at Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company from which she retired.
She married Robert H Kennedy on August 17, 1981. She was a faithful member of Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene. She was an enthusiastic and talented quilter and member of Friendly Quilt Guild. She was devoted to her community and spent many years volunteering at the Ashtabula Y where she was also a member. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross and
for the ACMC Auxiliary.
Survivors include her two daughters, Harriet Kennedy and Margaret Kennedy, both of Columbus; two special granddaughters, Eva Kennedy and Pearl Schafer both of
Columbus; sisters Pat of Toledo; Sandy and Barbara both of Elyria; brothers James and Butch both of Elyria; and several special nieces and nephews who loved their “Aunt Cookie” very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her parents; brothers Ralph and Howard Demorest; sisters Sarah Herring, Florence Adams, and Cheryl Atkinson.
At her request no public services will be held.
