Carol Lorraine Sowry, 87 of Kingsville, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 16, 1935 in Ashtabula, Ohio the daughter of Charles and Anna (Shepherd) Reed. She retired from Union Carbide in 1991 after 30 years. Carol enjoyed camping, crafting, quilting, stamping, family cookouts and watching the Cleveland Guardians! She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol was a member of Gageville Methodist Church, Conneaut Quilt Guild, Kingsville Quilters, National Great Lakers RV Club and the Vacation Land RV club.
She is survived by a son, Gary (Sandi) Sowry; three daughters, Katherine (Sam) Shinault; Leanna (Doug) Fowler and Deanna Howell; eight grandchildren, Carrie (Ryan) Birkner, Leah (John Garot) Tuuri; Amy, Dale (Rachel), and Kathleen Howell; Kyle (Aly Burnette), Katelyn (Cody Addair) and Alex (Annie Schaefer) Bowers; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter Tuuri (Lydia Tannish), Jadyn Lawson, Sasha Bowers, Chloe and Hailey Birkner, Spencer Addair, Raymond Howell, and one baby Howell on the way.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Lorren “Bud” Sowry whom she married on April 9, 1955; granddaughter, Ashlee Bowers, son in law, Raymond Howell, her parents; and two brothers, Charles and Junior Reed.
Calling hours will be Thursday, September 7 from 5:30PM to 7:30 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 526 West Prospect Rd Ashtabula. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 8 at 11:00 AM at the Gageville Methodist Church, 4063 State Route 193 Sheffield Township. Burial will be in LuLu Falls Cemetery, with memorial dinner following at Gageville Methodist Church. Contributions can be made to the Gageville Methodist Church.
