Captola ‘Cappy’ Joe Childers, 73, passed away on February 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 14, 1951, to Robert and Marilyn (Wright) McCarthy.
Cappy married the love of her life, Ron Childers, on December 26, 1970, and they enjoyed 54 amazing years together.
She enjoyed the role of family matriarch for decades: organizing family reunions, trips, and festive holiday gatherings rich in memories both old and new. She enjoyed travel, having had numerous adventures both stateside and abroad, where she soaked up the local history and architecture with enthusiasm. She enjoyed numerous sporting and social activities and could be found golfing, bowling, or sharing her love of candles. Her favorite pastime was playing poker, and she could often be found with like-minded friends around the table for a game or traveling to Las Vegas for tournaments and fun.
Cappy is survived by her husband, Ron, daughter Sabrina Stokes (Peter) and son Jon Childers (Caren). She is also survived by her sister, Terry Dirr (Mike) and brothers, Bob McCarthy (Cindy), Pat McCarthy, Brian McCarthy (Leslie), Tim McCarthy as well her favorite aunt Sally McCarthy along with many nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm with an on- site service to follow at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home 49 W Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio.
