Betty Jean Kowski, 90, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025.
She was born on December 18, 1935, the daughter of Karl and Cleo (Hinkle) Stainfield. Betty graduated from Jefferson High School in 1953 and went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career as a beautician for 40 years.
Betty had a deep love for life and adventure. She especially enjoyed polka dancing and traveling, visiting all 50 states and many countries. Along the way, she formed lasting friendships and maintained correspondence as a devoted “pen pal” to many people she met during her travels. She absolutely loved her family with all her heart, and she was so proud to be part of such a great family. She really was the family historian, and everyone in the family would call her for answers to questions about the family’s history; so, in turn she served as the secretary for the Webster Family Reunion.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Roy (Julie) Stainfield, Timothy (Sandy), Stainfield, Sherry Stainfield, Jeffrey Stainfield, Christy Stainfield, Cindy (James) Stainfield-Iams, and Charles (Carol) Stainfield; and her sister-in-law, Judy Stainfield; as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kowski; her parents; her stepfather, Reid March; and her brothers, Howard (Rita) Stainfield and Roy Stainfield.
Betty will be remembered for her warm spirit, love of travel, and the many connections she made throughout her life.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, 3140 E. Center St., Conneaut, Ohio.
