Betty Jean Bell, age 94, Nantucket Ave., Geneva, died Thursday afternoon at the Villa at the Lake in Conneaut.
She was born January 30, 1924 in Ashtabula, the daughter of Frank E. & Beulah (Austin) Campbell and has resided in Geneva the past 21 years. Betty was a graduate of Ashtabula High School. She previously lived in Brooksville, FL, Gainesville, GA and spent 55 years in Ashtabula. Mrs. Bell is the retired Executive Director of the United Way of Ashtabula County. Her previous employments included the Lakewood Schools, Ashtabula High School and secretary at the Prospect (now Trinity) Presbyterian Church.
Betty’s family was of the utmost importance to her. She was active with her children as they were growing up, attending all of their events and functions through the years. She was an avid golfer, member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, the Zonta Club and WEGS (West End Girls Club), which has been meeting since she was in eighth grade.
Survivors include three sons, Donald (Nancy) Bell of Geneva, Dr. Jack (Nancy) Bell of N. Kingsville and Terry (Judy) Bell of Kent; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her parents, her husband, Orval and a brother, Frank “Bud” Campbell all preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 7:00 P. M. at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1342 W. Prospect Rd., Ashtabula with the Rev. Mark Mong officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH 44004.
