Ashtabula - Barbara Ogren Brown, 99, passed away April 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born February 24, 1924, in Ashtabula, the daughter of August and Marguerite Braunbeck. She graduated from Kingsville High School in 1942. She was an active member of Order of the Eastern Star of Ohio (12 Orion Chapter).
Barbara married Thomas Ogren while he was serving in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Barbara was a co-founder of the Kingsville Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. She also served as president of the American Legion Neal Post #743 Women's Auxiliary where she and her husband Tom participated in Legion activities for many years.
She worked at the Commercial Bank and served as the first female Bank Loan Officer in Ashtabula County.
Barbara enjoyed Square Dancing, Ballroom Dance, camping, gardening, piano, organ and singing. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. In her later years, Barbara served as president of Country Club Retirement Center Residents' Association and enjoyed the social activities of the Red Hat Ladies.
She is survived by sons Jack (Ginger) Ogren, Gerald (Barbara) Ogren, daughters Linda (Rick) Silvers, Marilyn Stoltz and daugher-in-law Cathleen Ogren, 11 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Berneda Williams, Bernice Day, husband Thomas and their son James, husband Donald.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday April 16 at 2 pm at Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3056 E. Main St, Kingsville (rt 84). Family will receive guests at the church at 1:30. Interment at Greenlawn Memory Gardens (North Kingsville) will follow the services.
