Arthur Lee Pope, Jr.

Arthur L. Pope, Jr., age 62 died Sunday afternoon at his residence in Jefferson.

He was born April 30, 1958 in Capron, VA, the son of the late Arthur L. & Mary Frances (Moore) Pope, Sr. and relocated to Jefferson five years ago from Capron.  Art was a retired retailer, owning and operating Pope’s Slip-In Convenient Store in Capron.  Art was married to Tina M. Rodgers on October 11, 2014 in Monterey, VA.

He was full of life, passionate fisherman, hunter and tinkering with anything mechanical.  He was a member of the Jefferson Eagles Aerie Lodge #3881.  Art known for his “Southern” charm, did not know a stranger, having a “Heart of Gold”, loving his neighbors and community.  Most of all, a deeply loving husband, father and brother.

He is survived by his wife, Tina, a son, David Pope of Capron, VA and a sister, Debra (Donnie) Baines also of Capron.
