Arlene Joyce Kohta, 78, of Jefferson, passed away surrounded by her children on January 5, 2024, following an extended stay at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born on September 3, 1945, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to Clayton Alfred & Emogene (Fetters) Piper.
Arlene graduated from Pymatuning Valley High School in 1963 and attended beauty school.
She worked as a beautician, as a sales clerk at JCPenney, and in manufacturing at Zook Enterprises and ESAB.
Arlene had a love for quilting, gardening, garage sales, and hosting family pool parties. She cherished spending time with the small children in the family and had a passion for all things Christmas.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Joe) Nypaver and Brenda Kohta (Lincoln Russell) and her son, Alan (Tracy) Kohta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Earl Smith; her brother, Walter Piper; and her sister, Ellen Olson.
Honoring Arlene's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Instead, the family welcomes you to a Celebration of Her Life on Saturday, January 13th, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Jefferson United Methodist Church Wesley Hall, 125 East Jefferson Street in Jefferson, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, her children kindly request donations be made in her memory to World Central Kitchen (wck.org), the Arthritis Foundation (arthritis.org), or the Alzheimer's Foundation (alzfdn.org).
