Alvin H. Stowe, 82, passed away January 1, 2025, at Rae Ann Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and was a lifelong resident of Rock Creek.
He was born in Geneva on July 13, 1942, the son of Douglas and Anne (Gregas) Stowe.
He graduated from Rock Creek High School in 1961 and then went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. He honorably served on The Naval Assault Craft Unit Two as an Engineman Second Class.
On December 24, 1977, Alvin married Shirley M. Wood, his loving wife of 33 years until her passing at the very young age of 58 on September 19, 2009.
Alvin was a gifted and talented carpenter and builder; he successfully owned and operated The A.H. Stowe Construction Company for many years. He retired from Carpenters Union Local 95. He was a lifetime member of the Rock Creek VFW, and a past member of the American Legion #103 in Ashtabula. He was very proud to have been a 32nd Degree Master Mason attending Masonic Lodges in Geneva, Rock Creek and Ashtabula.
Alvin enjoyed fishing and boating and loved his time on Lake Erie with family and friends. He also enjoyed attending the theater. Alvin was always building something and working on projects at home; he also loved to be on his John Deere tractors. He was a dog lover his entire life and they always had them as his loyal companions.
He was a wonderful father, grandfather and husband and he will be missed dearly.
Alvin is survived by his loving family: his daughter, Michele (Frank) Slanina and his grandchildren, Rio Caya and Riley Caya.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, and his brothers Danny, Tom, and Ted.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Grand River Manor, 1153 Mechanicsville Road, Geneva, Ohio 44041; a Masonic Service will be held at 1:00 followed by Veteran Military Honors; the celebration of his life will continue until 4 PM, food will be provided by the family.
