Alice L. Hewitt, 88, of North Kingsville was called to Heaven on January 1, 2024, after a brief illness.
She was born on August 22, 1935, the daughter of Walter M. and Alice (Schweinfurth) Bedell of Marion, Ohio.
Alice graduated from Edgewood High School in 1953 where she participated in many activities; she was head majorette and homecoming queen.
She married her high school sweetheart, Gary O. Hewitt, in 1954.
She worked for several years as receptionist for Dr. A.M. Mills and then devoted herself to her growing family. Later in life, she carried out many duties as Vice President of Hewitt Enterprises including developing the recipe still used today by Covered Bridge Pizza Parlor.
Alice was a long time member of North Kingsville United Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and youth group.
She enjoyed sewing, needlecrafts, reading and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her large extended family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Gary Hewitt; her children: Denise (Louis) Rebrovic of New Bremen, OH, Nanette (Nickolas) Grasso of St. Petersburg, FL, Renee Hewitt of Ashtabula, OH and Paul Hewitt of Ashtabula, OH; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: William Bedell, Hilda Luce, Robert Bedell, Shirley Bedell, Walter Bedell Jr., Elizabeth Blomquist and Barbara Gates and her grandson, Franklin Grasso.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.
