Alfred Hurst, Sr. Obituary

Alfred R. Hurst, Sr., age 71, died late Saturday evening with family by his side at his residence in Saybrook Twp.

He was born August18, 1949 in Ashtabula, the son of Frederick & Katherina (Meier) Hurst, Sr. and has been a lifelong resident of this area.  Alfred married Marjorie A. Schray on June 8, 1985 in Ashtabula.  He retired in 2017 from the maintenance department at A-Tech, where he worked for 15 years.  Alfred’s working career started in 1967, working 15years at General Tire Chemical, then managed Motor Mart for 15 years before starting at A-Tech.

Alfred’s greatest joy was his children and grandchildren.  He was an avid weight lifter and loved the outdoors, walks in the woods and doing yard work.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; three sons, Alfred R. (Hibre Teklemariam) Hurst, II of Ellicott City, MD, Anthony (Suzette) Crichton of Callahan, FL & Chad (Alethea) Hurst of Concord Twp.; nine grandchildren, Isabel Hurst, Eden Teklemariam, Ashton (Joshua) Hunt, Austin (Brandi) Crichton, Rose & Steve Lamento and Aedan, Frankie & Myles Hurst; two sisters, Barbara Burgess of Wooster & Ingrid LaSalle of Painesville and a brother, Frederick Hurst of Ashtabula.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Hurst.

A Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, OH  44004.  The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W.
