Albert A. Peet, 76 of Ashtabula died Wednesday (July 21st) at the Country Club Retirement Campus. He was born December 7, 1944 in Ashtabula, Ohio the son of Albert F. and Eleanor (Urso) Peet and has been a lifetime area resident.
He was a 1962 graduate of St John High School and he served in the Navy for eight years during the Viet Nan war. He was a survivor of the USS Forrestal Fire in 1967. He had been employed at the Ashtabula US Post Office retiring in 2006.
He is a member of the VFW #943. He was also fond of Cleveland sports and enjoyed golf, fishing and bowling.
Surviving him is his sister, Carlene (Pete) Olsen of Akron, Ohio; his brother, Arnold (Connie) Peet of Ashtabula; nieces and nephews, Julie (Terry) Graeb, Matthew (Amy) Peet, Cara (Rob) Robson, Catherine (Brett) Teacher, Patrick (Melissa) Olsen and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his 134 shipmates who died in the Forrestal fire.
Funeral service will be Monday (July 26th) at 12:00 pm at the Ashtabula Home of the Fleming & Billman Funeral Homes, 526 W. Prospect Rd Ashtabula, Ohio with Father Thomas Bishop officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Saybrook Twp. with American Legion Post #103 conducting military rites.
Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
