Obituary

Alan Roy George passed away peacefully on August 22, 2023, with his wife Kim and his sons by his side.  He had fought courageously against Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma Since November of 2018.

Alan was born on July 22nd, 1959, to Roy and Glenda (Dixon) George in Ashtabula Ohio. He graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1977, he played football and wrestled for the Panthers.  After graduation he went on to Edinboro College for wrestling.

He was the wrestling coach for West Jr. High School, a youth wrestling coach for the Jefferson Youth Wrestling Club; a baseball coach for the Ashtabula Little League, a PAL youth basketball coach, a Saint John and Paul Intramural Basketball Coach and was a youth football coach for many, many years as well.  When Tyler and Logan played any sport, he was right there coaching and helping out.  He was always so involved in his son’s lives and was so very proud.  He was also extremely proud of Jack Joseph, when he became a doctor, all his accomplishments and his own athletic training business. Alan never missed a sporting event while his boys were in school, he was always supportive of anything and everything they wanted to do.  Alan loved the Cleveland Indians, and would always take the boys to the games, the Cleveland Cavs, he would take the entire family to attend those games; and the Cleveland Browns; those were Sundays at home watching with his boys.

Alan looked forward to his family vacations in Florida, Mrytle Beach and Charleston SC every year until he became ill.  He also couldn’t wait for family game nights at Jack and Lindsays house or Laura and Jasons house; and the holidays with all of us together.  No matter how he was feeling, he wouldn’t miss being with his family.  His wife, boys and granddaughter were his life.  He liked reminiscing about his younger days with Sandy and Robbie and all the antics they would pull on each other and all the fun times they had growing up, which gave Tyler and Logan antics to pull on him.  He cherished those memories.  Alan would tell his niece Molly his stories about the animals they had growing up, he loved Molly’s knock-knock jokes, her talking about animals and her rabbit, she could always make him laugh and smile.

Alan was a dedicated employee of MFG, whom he considered his second family, being employed there for almost 30 years, the compassion they showed Alan while he was going through this fight will never be forgotten. A special thanks to Chris Rainsberg , Andy Juhola, the Quality Department and all the teammates at MFG for their love, and kindness for Alan and his family.

Alan is survived by his wife Kimberly, his soul mate, best friend and love of his life, they never went a day without saying “I love you forever and ever Amen”, his sons: Jack Joseph (Lindsay) Lemmon, Tyler George and Logan George, his daughters: Tabitha and Courtney George, his sister Sandy (Dale) Henderson, his brother Robbie (Abbey) George, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Laura and Jason Cole; grandchildren: Alessia, (his little Allie) Xander and Jack. As well as his special cousins Lori Berman and Pam (Paul) Cianci and many nieces and nephews.

Alan was proceeded in death by his parents Roy and Glenda George, maternal and paternal grandparents, and his in-laws William E. and Laura Lee McCarthy.
