Walter D. Coates, 75 of North Kingsville died Monday (March 26th) at the Ashtabula County Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Kingsville. He was born October 21, 1942 in East Cleveland, Ohio the son of Walter D. and Elsie (Shultz) Coates, Sr.
He was a 1960 graduate of Conneaut High School and was a boiler operator at RMI in Ashtabula and with Lubrizol until his retirement.
He was a member of the Erie Horseshow Club and enjoyed bowling, computers and camping.
Surviving him is wife, Pamela (Hand) Coates whom he married November 17, 1983; two sons, Stephen Coates of Conneaut and Mark Coates of North Carolina; two step-children, Kathleen Drum of Phoenix, AZ and Timothy Drum at Home; five grandchildren, Shane, Jon, Trey, Gil and Onyx; two step-grandchildren, Brandon ad Amber; a sister, Linda Lemmo of Winterhaven, FL; a brother, Allen Coates of Kentucky and two half- brothers, Gary Coates and Gerry Coates of Zepher Hills, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be Wednesday (March 28th) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula, Ohio with Rev. Father Raymond Thomas of Our Lady of Peace Parish officiating.
