Vernon L. Hill, 90 of Ashtabula died Saturday (Jan. 6th) at the Brentwood Health Care in Northfield, Ohio. He was born June 29, 1927 in Warren, Ohio the son of Vernon L and Myrtle M. (Rasey) Hill.
He was a 1946 Graduate of Warren Harding High School and attended Warren Business College. He had been employed for 37 years for the Sears Department Store in Ashtabula retiring in 1987. He had also was a part time employee for Fleming & Billman Funeral Home for over 20 years.
He was an active member of the East Side Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula for over 50 years. He was also a member of Rising Sun Lodge #22 F&AM and was tyler for many years. He was past master and member of El Kadir Grotto. A life member of Valley of Cleveland Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.
When his sons were younger in school he was heavily involved in all their activities, such as Buckeye Bash, Buckeye Boo, band boosters, basketball, baseball, band chaperones and minstrel shows.
Surviving him is his wife, B. Juan Hill whom he married June 10, 1951; a son, David L. (Kathleen) Hill of Broadview Hts; two grandchildren, Rebecca Hill of Streetsboro ad David (Michelle) Hill of Milan, MI and two great grandchildren, David W. Hill and Noralee Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Donald C. Hill.
Calling hours will be Saturday (Feb. 3rd) from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula, Ohio with Rising Sun Lodge #22 conducting masonic rites at 2:45 PM. A private graveside service to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Plymouth Twp. with Pastor Joyce Shellhammer officiating.
