Thomas J. “Tommy” David, age 81, longtime Jefferson resident, died early Sunday morning at his home in Myrtle Beach, SC.
He was born September 14, 1938 in Jefferson, the son of Joseph F. & Sue A. (Nassar) David and lived in Jefferson all of his life before moving to Myrtle Beach. Tommy was married to Carole M. King on November 24, 1962 at St. Joseph Calasanctius Church in Jefferson.
Following Tom’s time serving his country in the U. S. Navy, he returned home to start his career in the car business. He was with Nassief Dealerships from 1959-1980, was at Gil Leiber Motors from 1980-90, and then spent the next 10 years at John Rugala and Greg Sweet Dealerships before opening Tom David Motors in Jefferson in 2000. The car business was Tom’s passion, he would look forward to going to work every day. He had a genuine compassion and care for his customers.
Tom and Carole were members of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Myrtle Beach and formerly St. Joseph Calasanctius Church in Jefferson.
Survivors include his wife, Carole; two sons, Robert G. (Flora) David of Hudson & Ryan G. (Nichole) David of Myrtle Beach, SC and three granddaughters, Marissa (Andy) Kreutzer, and Alexis & Jennifer David. His parents and a brother, Norman J. David preceded him in death.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be Friday, 12/27/19 from 4-7PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Fr. Phillip Miller offering expressions at 6:45PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
