Susan Morse Obituary

Susan Kay (Williams) Morse passed away peacefully March 9th with her loving family by her side at the Lantern of Saybrook after a courageous 10-year battle against dementia.  She was born May 21, 1950 in Ashtabula, OH, daughter of Hugh and Arminta (Armstrong) Williams Gran. She graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1968 and married Charles K. (Chuck) Morse April 11, 1970. She worked her entire career of 39 years at Western Reserve Telephone Company, and was known as “Assigning, Sue”.  She retired in 2007.

Sue loved music, especially the Moody Blues and the Beatles, her cats, nature and wildlife, especially seeing the first red winged blackbirds and daffodils in the spring, and the beautiful colors when the trees turned in the fall.  She loved all arts and crafts, especially sewing, drawing and painting, crocheting and counted cross stitch pictures and she loved to share her artistic talents with family and friends.  She loved to laugh, and loved spending time with family and friends.  She loved the Cleveland Indians and met some of the players when attending games. She was so happy to see the smiles on faces when she surprised them with personal handmade gifts, and was especially known for her bunnies – large and small.  She loved trying out new recipes for family picnics and many became part of the menu for future gatherings.  Sue loved helping everyone with anything that needed to be done, from helping aging parents with household tasks, and family members with moving, sometimes across several states.  She also cooked and delivered ‘meals on wheels’ to family members who were too busy to cook. She will be very sadly missed by her loving husband, and family and everyone whose life she touched.

Sue’s family would like to thank the entire staff at the Lanterns of Saybrook and Madison for the care they provided for Sue and her family, especially in her final days.  They would also like to thank everyone from Hospice of Western Reserve, with a special thanks to Mindee, for the attentive care that everyone provided to Sue.  They definitely made a huge difference in her quality of life.

Sue is survived by her husband Charles (Chuck) Morse, her siblings Robert (Bob) and Sarah Williams, of Wilmington, NC, Martha (Jack) Haluszka of Madison, OH, Barbara Laughlin, Ashtabula, Laura Gran, Ashtabula, Step siblings Carl (Debbie) Gran, NC, Paul (Darlene) Gran, Ashtabula, Barb (Donald) Depault, Fla. and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Stepdad Merle R Gran, and niece Deborah (Williams) Tredente.
