Shirley A. (Placko) Mason

Shirley Ann Placko- Mason, Age 78 of Kingsville OH passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019 at Ashtabula County Medical Center after a lengthy illness. 

 She was born May 10, 1941 in Cleveland, OH and was the daughter of the late Monica Shemo-Placko and Steve Placko.   She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1959 where she was a majorette, cheerleader and member of the band.  She was a waitress at Timshan’s Baltic Inn through high school.  She married William R. Mason on May 13, 1961 and became a homemaker. An amazing cook and baker, she would whip up anything, always made sure everyone was full and sent home with extras. An amazing artist in no matter what she did – crocheting, sewing, cross stitch, drawing or anything she tried.  She was an avid flower gardener and loved her plants. She was always fun, made the best of everything, enjoyed her family on every occasion and she had the best giggle you would ever hear.

She is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, William R. Mason  children: Willam V. Mason, Paul G. Mason, Charlotte M. (Matthew) Baldwin and Edmund D. Mason all of Ashtabula. Grandsons Corey A. (Jessica Brisley) Yovich of Conneaut, Cole (Teila) M. Baldwin of North Kingsville, Kyle D. Mason of Ashtabula, Great Grandson Beckett M. Baldwin of North Kingsville who was the apple of her eye, sister Monica (Daniel) Armstong of Peoria, AZ and brother Stephen Placko of Phoenix, AZ.  She was proceeded in death by her parents.

Calling hours will be Sunday (Sept. 8th) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula.

Private graveside services will be held at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Ashtabula Township.
