Richard Nicholas Kreilach

Richard N. Kreilach, age 94, St. Rt. 46 South, Lenox Twp., died Friday afternoon at his residence surrounded by his daughters.

He was born August 21, 1923 in Cleveland, the son of Nicholas & Ethel (Meder) Kreilach and has lived in Ashtabula Co. most of his life.  He was married to Vivian Ziegler on November 21, 1964 in Unionville.  Mr. Kreilach was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving in World War II.  Mr. Kreilach was the foreman of the Bridge Crew for the Ashtabula Co. Highway Dept. for many years before retiring in 1987.

Mr. Kreilach was a member of the Orwell North Presbyterian Church, Jefferson Eagles Aerie Lodge #3881, the New Lyme Grange, VFW Post #6846 in Geneva and the Geneva Moose Lodge.  He was active with 4-H when his daughters were growing up and formerly served on the Ashtabula Co. Fair Board.  He and his wife donated all of the wood to build the Draft Horse barn at the fairgrounds.

His enjoyments were being with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his grand-dogs.  He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

He is survived by three daughters, Sharon Ogram of Cave Creek, AZ, Carol Bodnar of Ashtabula & Jennifer (Ken) Makowski of Lenox Twp., seven grandchildren, Matt, Jason, Heidi, Angie, Nick, Tonya & Joe, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Phyllis (Ray) Watkins of Geneva.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vivian, a daughter, Becky Schilling and a son-in-law, Bill Bodnar.

Memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Orwell North Presbyterian Church, 135 N. Maple St., Orwell with the Rev. John Gehring-Anders officiating.  Burial will be in Rome Center Cemetery where Geneva Post #6846 of VFW will render military honors.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W.
