Richard “Dick” A. Hummel, age 89, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Jefferson Healthcare Center. He was born on December 26, 1928 in Cleveland, the son of Philip W. & Eleanore (Krause) Hummel.
He served proudly in the United States Army from 1950-1952. He worked as an accountant for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1995. He served four years as auditor in Ashtabula for the Northeastern Ohio National Bank. Twelve years as an accountant for N.W. Metal Finishing Inc. in Cleveland. He was a 40 year honorary member of American Institute of CPA’s and Ohio Western Reserve Chapter of National Association of Accountants. He was a Jefferson Grange member for 25 years. He was a past president of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion, Ohio.
He is survived by his stepson, Richard (Carol) Falcione of Ashtabula; two step grandchildren, Michelle Falcione of Roaming Shores and Michael Falcione of Cuyahoga Falls; niece, Donna (James) Welker of Geneva; nephew, Kenneth (Denise) Hummel and their children Andrew and Jana of Barneveld, WI.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Billye J. Hummel, whom he married on June 3, 1972; sister, Bernice Hummel and brother, Philip W. Hummel.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson at 11:00 A. M. with Rev. Fred Grimm officiating. Burial will take place at Oakdale Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at the above address.
