Nancy L. Custead, age 70, of Jefferson Rd., Ashtabula, died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.  She was born on December 30, 1946 in Conneaut, the daughter of Ralph E. & Helen L. (Cutright) Custead.

She worked as a school teacher for the Ashtabula Area City Schools for 38 years.  She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers and was very active with East Side Presbyterian Church and previously First Christian Church.  She sang with the Ashtabula Art Center, Goodlife.  She was also a very active member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.  She had a passion for reading, traveling and singing.  Although a procrastinator she always got the job done.  Her mother was a strong influence in her life. 

She is survived by her cousins, Beverly Applebee of Ashtabula and Patricia Jennings of Ashtabula; second cousins, Keith Applebee of Austinburg  and Betty O’Brien of Ashtabula.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joan McCarter.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:00 A. M.  at the East Side Presbyterian Church, 3440 Edgewood Dr., Ashtabula,  with Rev. Chris Bell officiating.  Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 A. M. at the church prior to the service.   In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to East Side Presbyterian Church, at the above address, envelopes will also be available at the church.  The Fleming & Billman Funeral DIrectors and Crematory, 526 W.
