Larry E. Bagley, age 69 of Jefferson, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He was born December 13, 1948 in Ashtabula, the son of Wayne E. & Beth Ann (Mickey) Bagley.
Larry was born and raised in Jefferson and attended Jefferson Area Schools. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he served as an Engine Mechanic aboard the USS Claude Jones.
Larry truly loved being a family man and his wife and children meant the world to him. He enjoyed his dog Bennet and could often be seen walking him around town daily for a 3-mile walk.
Larry owned and operated the BP service station in Jefferson for 38 years. Larry took pride in serving everyone that walked through the door equally and to the best of his ability. He was always fair and honest in his dealings with his customers.
Larry’s knack of working with his hands carried through to his hobby of woodworking which he picked up in earnest as his sons entered high school. He was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed working on various projects with his sons and also making furniture for his home. Larry developed skills for lathe work and turned various objects for family and friends. Larry and his sons, who had also picked up the woodworking bug, would travel for weekends at a time around the Midwest to attend woodworking and woodturning shows and events.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wanda J. (Stuart) Bagley of Jefferson; two sons, Brian E. (Stacey) Bagley of Jefferson, Larry P. (Lisa) Bagley of Madison; brothers, Les (Nancy) Bagley of Ocala, FL, Bruce (Carol) Bagley of Magnolia, OH; sister, Nancy Isbell of Bend OR; 5 grandchildren, Brandon (Kasey) , Lexi, Ethan, Andrea and Gwen.
