Judith E. “Judy” Hudson, age 75, of Geneva-on-the-Lake, died Saturday, 11/10/18 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born January 3, 1943 in Geneva, the daughter of Joseph & Mildred (Wharram) Novak. Judy and Bill Hudson were married on September 10, 1977 in Geneva.
Judy graduated from Geneva High School in 1961. She accompanied the school choir as a pianist, was a cheerleader, belonged to the National Honor Society and was Worthy Advisor for the Rainbow Girls association. Judy graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Elementary Education, and received her Masters Degree in Education from Lake Erie College. She taught elementary students in the Geneva Area school system for 36 years.
She was a long-time member of The United Church of Geneva as a member of the choir, played hand bells, served on various church committees and sometimes accompanied the church choir playing piano. Judy also sang in the community choir. When time permitted, Judy worked at Catherine’s Christmas store. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. She played the piano and sometimes accompanied the church choir. Her most enjoyable moments were with family.
Survivors include her husband, William C. “Bill” Hudson; daughters, Christine Spinelli of Akron and Heather Burton of Austinburg Twp.; granddaughters, Kayla Cevera, Breanna & Savannah Burton; great-grandchildren, Liam & Lillien Cevera; a sister, Janet Whaley of Geneva; brother, James (Kay) Novak of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Daniel of Bucyrus & Bonnie Novak of Canal Fulton; brothers-in-law, James (Marcia) & Bart (Colette) Hudson, both of Bucyrus and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, a brother, Joel Novak and son, Billy Hudson preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 11/19/18 at 11:00 AM at the United Church of Geneva, 75 S. Broadway, Geneva with the Rev. Bryan Manary officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, 11/18/18 from 1-4 PM at the Geneva Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the United Church of Geneva music committee (above address), envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
