John W. Jenks, 86 of Geneva died Wednesday (Jan. 3rd) at UH Geneva Medical Center. He was born August 7, 1931 in Ashtabula the son of Merle and Cornelia (Johnson) Jenks.
He had worked for 36 years with The Illumining Company in Ashtabula retiring in 1990 and when he was younger he worked for the New York Central Railroad.
He is a member of the Geneva First United Methodist Church and had been a member of Ready Campers. He enjoyed camping, traveling and he loved to whittle.
Surviving him is his wife Doris (McCarty) Jenks whom he married Jan. 6, 1951; a son, David (Pamela) Jenks of Harpersfield; three daughters, Kathleen A. (Alan) McCoy of Stevenage, England, Susan L. (Burt) Brown of Ashtabula and Linda K. (Gary) Millberg of Madison; five grandchildren, Brenda, Andrew, Steven, Ryan, Bridget; six great grandchildren and a sister, Carolyn (James) Wencil of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Robert and a sister, Marcella Johnson.
A memorial service will be Friday (Feb. 2nd) at11:00 AM at the Geneva First United Methodist Church, 89 South Broadway, Geneva with Rev. Bruce Hitchcock officiating.
Calling hour will be Friday (Feb. 2nd) from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Geneva First United Methodist Church.
