Gualberta Diaz, 96 died Saturday (Dec. 28th) at Saybrook Landing, Ashtabula, Ohio. She was born July 11, 1923 In Guayama, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Herminia Rodriquez and Jose Diaz Burgos.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.
She loved spending time with her family, cooking, dancing, listening to music, watching wrestling matches on TV, horse racing and going to the casino.
Surviving her are three daughters, Juana (Flor Santiago) Oquendo of Palm Springs, Florida, Hilda (Francisco) Nater of Ashtabula and Dora Higgins of Ashtabula, eleven grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Juan and Felix Ramos, a daughter, Luisa (Miguel) Santiago, a son-in-aw, Miguel Santiago, a grandson, Felix D. Ramos, a great granddaughter, Erica Casanas and a great grandson, Dario Higgins.
A mass of Christian burial will be Friday (Jan. 3rd) at 12:00 pm at our Lady of Peace, St. Joseph Church, 3300 Lake Ave. Ashtabula with Rev. Father David Bridling officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Saybrook Township.
Calling hours will be Friday (Jan. 3rd) from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula. Memorial contributions in her name can be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
